Obviously, these same tools can be used to study other area schools, or make comparisons with the community in which you're now living, (except the Illinois "tools" won't be applicable if you're out of state, obviously.)

Although there are many school reporting services nowadays, these we consider tops ... containing an enormous amount of data;

This is the official education reporting site for the state of Illinois.  It has a ton of data, including test results and other school accountability data.  It also contains the official Illinois School Report Card data, school by school.  Annually, we gather summaries of this information for our area schools into charts...one for primary and one for secondary schools, the latest of which is presented in the next menu item.

"Great Schools is a brand new site that's loading a great deal of school information. The detail on schools in Illinois isn't quite as extensive as in some states, but it appears to be building rapidly.  It claims not-for-profit status; it's remarkable that it's free."

A respected newer site with a lot of data, with methods and tools for the study of public schools nationwide.
